Professional Teachers

The founders of the Language Co-Op, Alex and Lucas, are both dedicated, professional second language instructors who hold MA degrees in applied linguistics/second language education and have more than 5+ years of experience across a variety of contexts. In addition, they are both involved in language education research and have presented their work at conferences and published academic work.

Research-based Practices

When designing lessons, materials, and resources, we take into account the cutting-edge research from the fields of applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, and second language acquisition (SLA). Some ideas/concepts that impact our teaching include ecological language learning (van Lier), project-based language learning, the post-method condition (Kumaravadivelu), and the interaction hypothesis (Long), among others.

Well-defined Teaching Philosophy

We believe in building a cooperative environment in which students learn language through authentic experiences and interactions. Through creative curriculum, research-based practices, and extensive academic training, we are building an international community of learners and a classroom experience that is tailored to the needs of each student. Innovation in curriculum design, student reflection and feedback, and collaboration are core principles of the Language Co-Op.
